Kidneys available

Be aware of such messages:
 
"Kidneys are available. A person aged ..... is in his death bed . - - -wish to donate .. Contact Mob: *738XYZ1726* ... etc.
 
Such messages are forwarded to us in good faith & with the intention that their good deed and timely help can save ailing person's life. We respect their intention to help the needy but...
 
Organ can't be  *offered, Sold or Purchased*.
 
According toTransplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Act (THOTA), 1994, such offering is illegal and Violators are subject to fines and imprisonment.
 
Types of organ donation:
 
1.  *Live Related Donation*: Organ donation from living person to blood relative: parent, child, brother or sister, grandparent or grandchild. Not even uncle aunty. (Minimum formalities) 
 
2.  *Live Unrelated Donation* Living donation can also come from someone who is emotionally related to the recipient, such as a good friend, a relative, a neighbour or an in-law (Maximum formalities).
 
3. *Deceased Cadaver Organ Donation*  The patient (recipient) has to register in a hospital that does transplants. The patient will be put on a wait list. As and when the organ from an appropriate deceased donor (Brain Death) is available, the patient will be intimated. (Legally Permissible).
 
When a person (Donor) is  *Brain Dead*  & is in ICU ( Not on death bed) in that case ZTCC /ROTTO/SOTTO (these are Govt. Authorities) only can handle the case & decide distribution. It is strictly done on priority basis & as per order of the waiting list.
 
*Without the permission of statutory authority no organ donation can take place.*
